ILLUMINATING DISTRACTIONS

We are a new business. Feel free have a look around and let us know what you think.

Clash of the Countries

After a year learning about minimum viable products and value propositions, talking to accountants, lawyers and insurance agents, getting customer feedback, and testing our game with teachers, parents and students,  we at Illuminating Distractions are very proud to announce that we are open for business. Our game "Clash of the Countries" is now ready and avaliable for you in our online shop.  If you would like to purchase the game but need an invoice rather than pay by credit card, please email and we can arrange the details.

We have been developing some notes to help you use our game in your classroom.  The first set are for any teacher who wants ideas to meet the curriculum priority of sustainability.

aboutus

We are a business start-up supported by St Pauls School Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.  We are a group of students and a parent who had a desire to make classroom learning, more fun, collaborative, and interactive. We wanted to make games that families can play that are enjoyable to children as well as adults.

Illuminating Distractions is a Start Up In Residence (SIR) at St Pauls School’s Centre of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE). St Paul’s School seeks to prepare its students for the jobs of tomorrow, and the CIE is a critical element to providing this.
Recent feedback from year 8 and 9 students from Coomera Anglican College:

“This game is a fun introductory game to learn about countries. It works best when played for approximately 10 minutes.” Caitlin

“This game gave us a deeper understanding of other nations and how we compare.” Andre

The SDG's

In September 2015, the General Assembly adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development that includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Clash of the Counties supports conversations and learning around the following four goals:

Goal 1: End poverty in all its forms everywhere

Goal 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages

Goal 9: Build resilient infrastructure, promote sustainable industrialization and foster innovation

Goal 10: Reduce inequality within and among countries
